Medigap Plan G
Plan G covers every gap Original Medicare leaves except one: the annual Part B deductible. After you pay that deductible each year, Plan G pays your share of every Medicare-covered service — no copays, no coinsurance, no surprise percentages.
Who Plan G tends to fit
- People who want the most complete coverage still open to new enrollees — Plan G is the fullest plan you can buy if you became eligible for Medicare in 2020 or later.
- People who value a predictable year: one deductible, then covered.
- People who see doctors that don't accept Medicare assignment — Plan G pays Part B excess charges, which only it and the closed Plan F cover.
The trade-offs
- Usually the highest premium among plans open to new enrollees — you are paying for the completeness.
- You still pay the annual Part B deductible yourself; no plan sold to new enrollees is allowed to cover it.
- No drug coverage — a separate Part D plan rides alongside, and skipping one triggers the permanent late penalty.
